Last week saw Evie, one of our community development and volunteering officers and Rachel, our Community Transport project officer, head over to Hope House community minibus in Mablethorpe to find out more about how the community minibus operates and what support our team can offer to keep the bus busy.
Hope House community minibus is available to hire by local groups and community organisations but is not for private or commercial use.
With an annual membership fee and then just £1.00 per mile, which includes fuel, it is an affordable option for many journeys especially local ones.
There is also the option to have a volunteer driver, subject to availability, which makes it even more accessible to those groups who otherwise might not be able to get out and about.
With up to 17 seats available, some of which can be removed to secure two wheelchairs, it really is an incredible asset to the local community.
This wonderful service like many across the county are always looking for the support of volunteers to keep their community connected.
If you have a current valid driving license for a minibus (category D1 or D entitlement) and enjoy driving and would love to meet new people whilst providing an invaluable link between local people and places, then please get in touch.
Admin and coordination support is also an integral part to running any community transport scheme, whether you are local to Mablethorpe and would like to find out more about Hope House or anywhere else in the county, then Rachel our community transport project officer and the volunteering team can help support you into the right volunteering role for you.
