The Plan for Neighbourhoods is a 10-year, government-backed investment programme to support the regeneration of towns and neighbourhoods through long-term change led by local communities.
75 places have been chosen to be part of the programme and will receive up to £20 million over a 10-year period. 75% of this funding is for capital (physical) investment and 25% is revenue funding.
Spalding has been chosen as a neighbourhood that will receive Plan for Neighbourhoods Funding.
The aim of the Plan for Neighbourhoods programme is to improve the physical environment and the activities and services offered in places, bringing improvements to the everyday lives of the people of Spalding.
The Spalding Town Board are responsible for preparing a 10 year vision which will guide the types of projects that receive funding through the programme.
The 10-year vision aims to respond to what local people have told us is important to them. Consultation is ongoing but we know from previous consultation that priorities for local people include:
• Feeling safe in the town centre
• A better town centre experience
• Improved retail offer
• Enhancing heritage, arts, culture and tourism
• Community facilities and resources
• Making it easier to get around Spalding
The emerging ideas that we are consulting on now, focus on the physical environment in Spalding town centre.
