Home Upgrade Grant Scheme

Introduction

The Home Upgrade Grant Scheme (HUG2) remains open to eligible residents.

If you or someone you know could take advantage of the Home Upgrade scheme for long-term improvements, get in touch with your local district council for more information.

What is The Grant?

It is designed to provide energy efficiency upgrades and low-carbon heating solutions to low-income households living off-gas grid (i.e. there is no option to connect to the mains gas network in that area).

The grants available will be between £8,000 and £38,000 per home depending on the property and wall type, Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of the property and fuel type. Grant awards will be on a sliding scale with the most funding available to the lowest EPC rated properties with solid walls.

Insulation measures could include external wall, cavity, underfloor, loft or internal wall, as well as smart heating controls and low energy lighting upgrades.

What is The Eligibility Criteria?

To be eligible for a grant, there are some requirements:

  • The property must have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D, E, F or G
  • You must have a household income of less than £36,000 per year
  • The property must be off the gas grid
  • Other eligibility criteria may be applicable
